End of life support during COVID-19 in Connolly Hospital

The difficulty faced by those who could not be with their loved ones at the end of life due to the restrictions placed on visiting due to COVID, was felt widely throughout the Hospital. In response, led by Laura Stynes, Q & S Patient Liaison Officer, a multidisciplinary working group was established to come together with ideas that would bring comfort to grieving families. All members of the working group engaged with the project enthusiastically and the initiative was supported by the Blanchardstown Hospital Society.

The below picture shows a candle, poem, photo frame and forget me not flower seeds that will be shared with bereaved families as a token of our condolence and allows us the opportunity to meet with the them now that restrictions have been lifted and provide assurances that their loved one was cared for in a compassionate way.
