The RCSI Hospital Group welcomes the first cohort of Hibernia College student nurses to our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Cavan General & Monaghan Hospital

The RCSI Hospital Group were pleased to welcome Hibernia College student nurses this week who have begun specialist placements at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Cavan & Monaghan Hospital as part of their BSc (Hons) in General Nursing degree.

A NEW APPROACH TO NURSING EDUCATION
This new undergradate nursing programme, developed by Hibernia College, provides alternative routes for people who wish to undertake a full-time Level 8 Degree Programme. The RCSI Hospital Group is delighted to enable these students gain the required clinical experience in their jourmey towards nurse registration while supporting the local and national agenda that seeks to grow the number of registered nurses and midwives to meet increasing healthcare sector demand.
Petrina Donnelly, Chief Director of Nursing and Midwifery at the RCSI Hospital Group stated: ‘This exciting initiative from Hibernia College offers a new and accessible pathway to becoming a Registered General Nurse and we look forward to working with Hibernia College in the development of highly educated nursing students for the Irish healthcare sector’.
